As I was surfing the waves I crashed into shots from artist Mathew Clowney. These amazing portraits are from his most recent series of work, Families, which to me reflect what America ignores, and the opposite of A-typical. They speak boldly without caption, stating “This is who we are. What of it?”. The shots mirror the individuals in the moment as they interact, as if to say this is who we are as we choose to present ourselves. Viewing these photos once is never enough.
